ENDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know this will be hard to believe, but I have actually read not one, but 2 books in the last few weeks! Also, it might blow your mind to know that they were sci fi! Todd has been bugging me to read Ender's Game since we got Jordan the set for Christmas. I also found out that most everyone in the fam except me Melody. I knew Matt was also huge fan also, but I thought.....why would I be interested in a space and fighting type of book. I read Ender's game in a few days over the 4th of July and loved it! (full of eternal truths and just a great story) I couldn't wait to get home from Grandma's so I could get Ender's Shadow and read about Bean's side of the story. Todd put it on my ipod and opened a whole new world to me! Who knew you could read and get something done at the same time (plus if I am tired I can lay and rest my eyes while I listen!) It only took a few days to get through Ender's Shadow which I liked just as much if not better! I cleaned out my closet, did laundry, did the dishes and ran while I listened. (I wondered if I would like running with it, and I DID!) I would recommend these books to anyone! I think next I will listen to Speaker for the Dead(next in the series) and actually read the vampire book Elise has been begging me to read. Since we have been doing some camping, and hope to do some more, I should be able to get through several books this summer. Cami gave me a great list of books to read, but if anyone else has favorites to suggest please let me know! Also, Yay for Melody. She listened to Ender's Game on CD and loved it too!

Ho Amber. I'm glad you liked the books. It's better that you read them before the movie comes out next year. The saga will start to be lame after that. I have when characters like Ender get a "face" from a movie. Next thing you know, you'll only be able to buy the paperback version of Enders Game with a picture of Haley Osment (or someone) on the cover. Blech.

It probably will ruin everything!

ok so I guess I am out of the book loop. I did not know about his ENDER thing- and my husband did!

Yay, hooray. Welcome to the Ender world. I didn't LOVE Speaker, but I haven't read Ender's Shadow yet. I think I'll do the ipody thing for that.

Also, just so you know, I heard that the person who reads Twilight and New Moon on CD are crappy. You should probably read those ones from the actual books. They don't take long, they'll "suck" you in. ha ha.

For those of us who don't get to sit and read as much as we would like, that putting books on the mp3 player is the trick. You can see mom's blog for an update on how many I've read in just a couple of months. Right now I'm reading "Gulliver's Travels". Very interesting social and political comment.

I should read those.I really need to update my ipod with books. I'll have to go to the library or something. So many steps to read a book. Maybe that's why I'm so reluctant.

Yes, Ender is captivating! Julia and I enjoyed listening to it so much that we finished it in two days. I am trying to decide what to listen to next from the online library - librivox.

Cami, I think I loved Speaker For The Dead as much as Enders Game. I love the idea of telling a true life sketch. Maybe not with the same brutality as in the story, but still...not everyone who died is the best person on the planet earth.

Matt-oo-matt,

I think I didn't like Speaker because I was too young when I read it. I should try it again. There are still some parts that are so vivid for me, and also parts I remember you telling me about before I read it. He does have a way with characters and psychology.

Good for you, Amber! I knew you'd like reading someday! Ha-ha. I should read Ender again. I remember it was very imaginative.
